Tips on Getting the Best Headshots

1. Choose the Right Photographer

Look for a photographer who specializes in headshots. Review their portfolio to ensure their style aligns with your vision.

2. Select an Appropriate Location

Choose a location that is convenient and complements your brand. This could be an office\environmental location that reflects personality. We can also use any location to create a photo studio.

3. Dress for Success

Wear clothing that fits well and reflects your professional image. Solid colors often work best, and avoid busy patterns that can distract from your face.

4. Hair and Makeup

Professional hair and makeup, whilst not a necessity, may ensure you look your best. Where makeup is concerned we recommend a matte finish with a subtle approach. A polished appearance can make a significant difference in your final images.

5. Practice Your Expression

Think about how you'd like to be perceived. Practice smiles and other expressions in the mirror beforehand to find what feels authentic to you.

6. Pay Attention to Lighting

Good lighting is crucial for great headshots. Natural light in some cases can be flattering, but make sure to avoid harsh shadows or overly bright spots. We also use professional studio lighting that compliments all skin types which is soft and flattering.

7. Keep the Background Simple

A clutter-free background allows the focus to remain on you. Choose neutral tones or soft textures that won’t distract from your face.

8. Get Comfortable

Before the shoot, take a few moments to relax. The more comfortable you feel, the more natural your expressions will come across in the photos.

9. Reviewing and Selecting the Best Shots

Post-shoot, we carefully review, edit and retouch your photos, selecting final images that resonate with your brand and purpose. Delivered in high resolution via download link on our website.

10. Stay Current

As trends change, regularly update your headshots to reflect your evolving professional image. Aim to refresh your headshots every year.
